Diabetes UK

Diabetes UK wanted to educate young people of the long-term health benefits that a healthy lifestyle and diet can provide and to find the ‘missing million’ people in the UK that has Type 2 diabetes but are as yet undiagnosed. For this reason they embarked on developing 2 resources:

KS1&2 Primary ResourceKS1&2 Primary Resource
The resource, delivered to schools within regions that have higher numbers of people with diabetes, provided activities that focused around 2 characters, Healthy Harry and Lazy Larry. The characters showed pupils the consequences of their decision making when it came to choosing lifestyle and diet options and were taught about diabetes and the best ways of avoiding developing Type 2.

KS3 D&T CD-ROMKS3 Design and Technology CD-ROM
A CD-ROM, supporting D&T, Science, Citizenship and PSHE, was sent to all secondary schools in areas which are most affected by diabetes. Pupils worked through a series of activities to learn more about the condition, how it affects lives and ways to reduce the chances of developing the condition.
