Learning through interactive, educational games

Background

EC and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) have worked collaboratively on numerous resources, teaching students about the importance of keeping their hearts and bodies healthy through exercise and eating well.

Aim

To deliver curriculum linked, fun learning resources to engage pupils and convey healthy heart messages.

What did we do?

The Big Heart Exploration is a CD-ROM Science resource for Key Stage 2. Pupils follow Dr. A Leon on a visit to Earth as he learns how the human body works. The resource contains a mix of:

  • Interactive games
  • Downloadable worksheets
  • An image and film library
  • Animations
  • Regional curriculum links.

The BHF/Quit Smokey Joe game offers contemporary ‘edutainment’ for children aged 9-14 at school and home; providing a creative response to reducing the number of young people who start smoking. Working alongside the BHF’s interactive agency, we assisted in the game development and the delivery of accompanying teacher’s notes, classroom/ homework activities and mini quiz.

You can play the game here: www.stuboutjoe.co.uk.
