Generation Green – Workshops

Generation Green – Workshops

Lesson and Assembly workshop delivery

Background

As part of our wide involvement with Generation Green (the sustainability education programme from British Gas) we were invited to visit a number of schools to demonstrate some of the resources.

Aim

To further build the strong reputation of Generation Green and increase teacher/pupil involvement.

What did we do?

We arranged visits to a number of Primary schools in the UK to demonstrate the fun and exciting lesson plans and assemblies available to use. By directly presenting the materials to teachers and pupils, we are able to drive further engagement to Generation Green and also increase press coverage for the programme.

In May 2010, we visited North Baddesley Junior School, Hampshire, to hold an assembly based on waste and recycling. The whole school attended, along with Sandra Gidley (then MP for Romsey and Southampton North) and the local press. The objective was to raise awareness for such an important topic, both locally and nationally.

Such workshops continually give us opportunities to speak to teachers face-to-face about the programme and to generate feedback from pupils, paving the way for us to improve a worthwhile education programme.
