Motability, the leading car scheme for disabled people, wanted educational materials for schools to help pupils discuss and understand issues relating to disability.
Key Stage 2 Primary Poster
A bright poster was designed to display a variety of people in differing mobility scenarios. On the reverse of the poster, activity sheets and teachers notes were provided that supported KS2 Literacy, Numeracy and Citizenship. The poster and activities was welcomed by over 13,000 UK Primary Schools.
Secondary ICT Programme
A pilot scheme run across Essex Secondary Schools has been phase 1 of Motability’s Communications Programme with older pupils and students. A series of Design and Make Activities (DMAs) and briefing sheets were provided along with a poster and curriculum mapped teachers guide. The activities encouraged discussion regarding the issues facing people with various mobility needs. Projects were invited to enter into a competition, which was won by Joe Turner and Jonathan Cracknell of Chelmer Valley High School in Chelmsford. Nationwide programmes are hoping to be rolled out in the near future.
