Powergen
Education Connections was appointed by the Powergen Community Relations Team to develop an education programme that would be inclusive to all pupils, have energy as the core message and link to the theme of the community.
Built around Powergen’s role in supplying energy to local communities, The Powergen Positive Energy School Awards helps pupils to engage with and benefit from the Arts. Pupils aged 7-11 use creative work in Art, Music, English or Dance to explore and ideas and feelings about their school community and to think about where they see ‘positive energy’ in the activities they take part in and in the people around them.

The awards are supported with free curriculum-linked resources for teachers and pupils and four specially created characters guide them through the process of exploring and expressing their ideas.
Schools receive a certificate, stickers and an exclusive energy efficiency CD-ROM. In addition, 10 schools will be awarded £1,000 to spend on increasing positive energy in their school as well as receiving a visit from the Positive Energy Crew mascots.
Launched in September 2005, the Awards resources have been despatched to over 3,600 Primary Schools in England, Scotland and Wales.
