Aim

Continuing to develop and evolve a schools programme to support teachers in the topic of sustainability.

Background

We joined the Generation Green team in September 2008 and have since continued this relationship as their educational consultants. Generation Green is the sustainable education programme from British Gas, designed to inspire young people, their teachers, parents and the wider community to tackle sustainability and energy efficiency.

The programme offers free curriculum-linked resources and a range of ideas for activities designed to help all schools on their journey to becoming more sustainable. The resources also reward schools by providing the opportunity to win great prizes that will help schools reduce energy consumption in the long term, along with fantastic ‘Money Can’t Buy’ experiences for students.

What did we do?

We help drive the strategic vision from an educational perspective – ensuring that every decision made has educators and consolidated learning in mind. Our resource content aims to add tangible value to the British Gas core Corporate and Social Responsibility aims, whilst also leaving a legacy in the classroom in terms of creative and stimulating learning tools that can really make a difference in changing behaviour.

Results

Over 11,000 schools are signed up to the programme, with active downloading of resources.
