Generation Green

Delivering topical resources for 4-16 year olds
www.generationgreen.co.uk

Background

Generation Green is the sustainability education programme from British Gas, created to encourage and reward schools and local communities for their green behaviour. We partnered with the Generation Green team in 2008 and continue to provide content and consultancy on the development and future vision of the programme.

Aim

To assist in the creation of topical and relevant educational resources which encourage green behaviour in schools and educates young people about the importance of sustainability in a creative and engaging way.

What did we do?

By exploring the many green and sustainable messages British Gas wish to communicate, we have created a wide variety of learning materials. The resources range across various topics, such as following the journey of electricity, comparing renewable energies and understanding the real meaning of sustainability. All materials aim to be as current and topical as possible and support relevant events such as Energy Saving Week – providing a continuous stream of high quality teaching materials, at key times of the academic year.

Encouraging learning, both in and out of the classroom, this highly engaging and interactive website houses a multitude of resources for 4 – 16 year old students, aligned for use with the English, Welsh and Scottish curricular.

Results

From 31st August – 31st December 2010 15,423 learning resources were downloaded.
